After three years of diligent prayer and planning, Mission Thrift Store Edmonton 2 opened its doors July 23 at 11209 – 149 Street NW, Edmonton, AB. The 18,000 sq. foot store follows the Mission Thrift Store (MTS) brand standards. They aim to have a store that is clean and bright and full of fun treasures. This is achieved in part at MTS 2 with the bright green stripe around the store. The store is open from noon to 5 PM on Tuesday through Saturday with donations accepted from 10 AM to 3 PM Monday through Saturday.
Mission Thrift Store (MTS) is a volunteer-driven, non-denominational Christian organization that currently operates more than 50 thrift stores across Canada with a mission to make the living, life-giving, life-changing Word of God accessible to people everywhere. Every purchase helps transform millions of lives in 43 countries by funding dozens of initiatives through a joint ministry with Bible League Canada. Buyers save money and the planet by giving used goods a new life – redirecting them from landfills.
Store Manager Lisa Paarup indicates that the store is doing very well in it’s first two months of operations. She comments “We truly need more volunteers to help get the donations processed and on the retail floor. We pray every day for more hands to help. I am trusting that God will provide.” To volunteer, stop by the store to pick up an application. email Lisa at Edmonton2@missionthriftstore.com or check out https://missionthriftstore.com/volunteer/.
Lisa further comments that “Each day we have a time of devotion and prayer. It is important to never lose sight of our ultimate mission which is that we are serving Our King. I am so thankful for this store and the opportunities that come through our door every day to serve Jesus, Our Lord.”
